Fulfilled Fridays 13 Link-up

My chronic illnesses got me this week. The simplest things became mountains. Sometimes it was hard to speak because my brain just wouldn’t work.

These kind of weeks make it so hard to be content and happy. I want to crawl into bed and never come back out again. Yet I feel like I have to push myself to continue. I’m not striving to go above and beyond, I’m simply attempting to continue with the status quo.

Dishes must be done.

Laundry must be washed.

Girls must do school.

Yet, I failed.

Dirty dishes are scattered all over the house. I washed bowls 30 seconds before they were filled with cereal.

Laundry piled up. The Husband was out of undershirts yesterday morning.

The girls did school, but were  left on their own while I curled up in a bean bag chair in the corner. Not my ideal picture of school, but one reason we use an online charter school. It gives them direction and materials while I have sick days. They have teachers they can call with questions when simply remembering 2+2 is difficult.

So I wondered what I was going to write about for Fulfilled Fridays all through the week. My week has been one of living, not enjoying.

Until yesterday.

The Inventor and I had our weekly walk to the library for Lego Club. On our walk she went in front of me, stopping to notice each beautiful thing the fall season brings.

Green leaves starting to turn all colors of the rainbow.

Maple seeds that beg to be thrown so you can watch the helicopters.

Squirrels busily getting ready for winter.

The arches in the trees over the sidewalk where the city trimmed them to make room to walk through the park.

Fish swimming down the canal unaware that the water will soon be shut off. They are ignorantly living their last days of life in a dead end waterway.

Many different shapes and sizes of pine cones, and how they come from different looking evergreens.

The beautiful red roses hanging on the bushes for as long as they can.

And life was so peaceful, so carefree, that she literally skipped the last 4 blocks to home.

I couldn’t help but smile and remember that living a fulfilled and content life is not always about being happy with what we have.
