Fulfilled Friday 8 and Link-up

walk to library

This week The Inventor decided to try Lego Club at the library.

She didn’t know quite what to do when we got to the library and I left her sitting at the table with a bucket full of legos and surrounded by strange children.

She’s old enough that I didn’t want to interfere so I made myself disappear to a comfy chair on the other side of our small library. I could hear the kids building and giggling from there. They were all having a blast.

Sometimes they have individual challenges or team challenges. This week it was individual free build.

About 45 minutes later I started to see kids walk through the library with their builds. I saw birds, a bat mobile, houses, and statues.

And then I saw The Inventor’s Dangerous Contraption.

She had created a two story trap. One person was in the top and the other person had to save him. There was a push button, levers and hoses leading to the trap. If the button didn’t get pushed in time, then the person in the trap would turn into a door.

I wish I had remembered to take a picture.

The library celebrates these builds for a week. They are all locked inside a glass display case for everyone to see. Then, at the next Lego Club meeting, they take apart their builds and make something new.

On our walk home, she couldn’t stop talking about how much fun she had and the different things she’d built.

It warms my heart to see my girls get into their hobbies and try new things. We will definitely be there next week.

My sister-in-law carries her camera with her everywhere for moments such as this. Can you go back and take one?…maybe when they take it out of the case to disassemble?
    Love those creative minds!

I didn’t go back Heather. She went again last week (and because I’m behind on comment replies, today is Thursday and she’s going back for week #3). Last week I asked her if she wanted me to take a picture and she said no. I used to take pictures of moments like this more often but then I found I was walking around looking for pictures instead of simply enjoying the time. It was distracting to me so now I just make mental memories and sometimes write about them.
