Fulfilled Fridays 5 and Link-up

Welcome to Fulfilled Fridays!

A place where we can celebrate and share what makes life great.

This week has been very busy in an offline sort of way.

The girls have their own rooms. However, each summer they share a room because it is the coolest room in the house–it has the window AC unit.

Normally I can tell they’re sick of each other by mid July. By the beginning of August The Inventor is braving the hot bedroom just so she can get away from her older sister. Not this year. They have loved every minute of it.

So last weekend The Husband and I asked them if they wanted to share a room year round. We were thinking they’d stew on it for a bit before getting back to us. They didn’t. It was an immediate yes and they were sure they wanted to.

This isn’t a short term thing. We told them they had to share for 4 years. They think it’s great. Ask me again in 4 years when they are 15 and almost 14 if this was a bright idea.

But move they wanted. So I spent 3 hours on both Monday and Tuesday filling up bags for donation and cleaning out lots of clutter from both bedrooms. Then another 6 hours on Thursday alone moving furniture.

The bedroom is done. The other room is slowly becoming a toy & school room. All that is left is moving the desk from the front room into that new room. I finally am going to have some space out there, although I’m sure it won’t last for long.

I’m really excited to see how well this works out for the next 4 years while everyone but me is in some kind of schooling.

If you have more than one child, do your kids share a room? How does that work out?

Now it is your turn!

There are very few rules. You don’t have to follow me on social media or subscribe although I’d love it if you do. Links to where you can find me on social media are off to your right.

If you’re feeling extra generous, tell others where to find this link-up. I’ll make it easy for you if you use twitter!

Our girls have shared for years in some form or another. They do love it…most of the time. Part of what makes it work is just finding time during the day for each girl to have some time alone. I bet it will be much more wonderful than not.
Jill is doing the same thing today over at Maggie May Gifts. 🙂

They have shared before and we split them up when they were going through a rough spot. That is one reason why I put such a long time on it. They have opposite personalities and I want them to learn to work things out instead of just separating. In the long run, my hope is that they want to share until they move out. I know it has only been a week, but I love having that spare room for school supplies.

This looks like a fun project! I love rearranging and organizing. 🙂 Our twin girls have shared a room for 10 years and it’s up and down on whether they like it or not. I think your girls will have days they like it and days they don’t, but I do think they’ll grow closer in the process!

Over the years they collected so much clutter. I filled countless trash bags and sent at least 7 bags to various donation places. I’m enjoying the cleanliness but it was a lot of work. They have shared off and on but I think this time they’re more prepared. They are better friends now than they were last time and I think that should help. I am hoping it brings them closer together and they remember this as a happy time when they are grown.
